Digimon Entrance - A Top 10
I'm taking a little break from Lost Season 6 today and posting this instead. The season will continue tomorrow. About a month ago, I received an email informing that Geocities will close down. Those of you who remember the FDD tribute a while back will know that this means that FDD will now be unresurrectable as more than half of the FDD sites were hosted on geocities, mine included.
So, I'll be posting a little Top 10 about my favourite sections of Digimon Entrance (my site). Some of them will be direct links to the geocities pages (in which case, the pages will be destroyed on October 26th 2009), others will be links to the Jimdo rescue service (these will remain up for as long as Jimdo continues to function). Of course, any links which are present on the Jimdo pages will also be accessible - with the exception of the links on the drop-down lists, which were not archived.
The original plan was to post this on the site's sixth birthday (which will be the 18th of August - five days from now). However, I made a mistake in the math and since it was ready, I decided to post it today - Enjoy! (Please note that Jimdo pages, have been skewed to fit Jimdo's specifications, thus the colour and format is not the original. You'll be able to tell the difference after you see a sample of each from below).

Times Going By...
This section chronicled the site's milestones. The page was one of the first to be put up and was updated on the site's 1-day, 1-week and 1-month birthday, as well as on its first and second anniversary. The first anniversary brought a major overhaul to the site, including changing the main colour scheme from blue to green and several new banners. The site's birthday was also blessed with continuous updates. The second birthday wasn't as lucky. Updates began - but were never finished. Blurry pictures of the original site are available on this page. Both the pictures and the content are original links and will disappear on 26th October.

Thanks
This section was created to pay tribute to those who helped out with our site. There were three people on the list - all of whom were added in the site's early days. These three people were my Uncle - the first visitor; Legend - veteran FDD and provided me with lots of help for the site; and Callie - an active member in the site's early days. This is an original link and will disappear on 26th October.

Coming Soon!
This page has effectively evolved into a six-year lie. The scope of this page was to give people an idea of what I had in store for the site (plus a way of allowing me to remember my plans). Whenever something from the list was added, I removed it and whenever I thought of something new, I'd add it. It was not a first-come, first-serve system...rather, whichever I felt ready to work on, would be worked on. At the site's closing, there were eight projects in queue. The first two on the list had been in development since the site's inception, but never garnered enough interest. The section which would have been set up next had the site remained open would have been a mailing list function, although looking back, I can't imagine that it would have been a popular function. This is an original link and will disappear on 26th October.
Seven
Crests
This section was an analysis of the crests of the original digidestined. It grouped the kids from the first three seasons based on the types of crests which best represent them. It's similar to the 'Sister Cities' project which is carried out in the real world. This is a Jimdo link and thus will remain available indefinitely. The page consists of links to the individual crest pages - all of which will remain available.
Six
Season 1
This section took a look at the entire Season 1 repertoire including the good guys, bad guys and the in-episode mistakes/continuity errors. Later, I also added a page dedicated solely to Myotismon. On the site, I roleplayed the parts of the eight digidestined and threw in myself as the guy in charge. The initial plan of the site was to eventually have them replaced by the Season 2 and later Season 3 cast. However, I abandoned this idea when I realised that maintaining the original, working formula was in the site's best interests. This is a Jimdo link and will remain available indefinitely - as will the links on that page.
Five
Kiriban
For those of you who do now know what the Kiriban is, it's a system whereby one rewards the visitors to their site by providing them with requests (Art/Stories etc.) for achieving a number on the webcounter. My webcounter jammed up for me so we only made it to the 1000th visitor kiriban. However, I offered any visitor to my site a free request to make up for this. Both requests (100 and 1000) were won by Legend. She requested a story be written and thus Saving Foxermon came to life. For her second request she asked for a sequel. Both stories are available on this page and will remain available until October 26th, as this is an original link.
Four
My FDDs
This section was an encyclopedia of every fictional character, Digimon and item/location that existed in my stories. Each has it's own detailed description and an illustration accompanying it. This is a Jimdo page so it will remain up indefinitely. I am unsure whether the pictures will also remain there past October 26th as they may still be hosted solely on the Geocities server. Guess we'll find out on October 27th!
Three
My Fanfiction
This is the place where my main (non-Kiriban) stories were stored. There were four stories over the time that I ran the site. The first three, were three different parts of The Meeting of the Digimon, taking place in an alternate universe to the one of the Digidestined. The fourth was the first part of The Change of Destined - which in itself was a multi-part fic which was never finished. Obviously, since Part 1 was never finished - parts 2 and 3 never got started. There were other planned Fanfics (there was a list of them similar to the Coming Soon section above). But, evidently, they never came to fruition. All my fanfics were given ratings - we had a page explaining the ratings too. This section is a Jimdo link and thus it will remain up indefinitely, as will the four stories.
Two
The Main Page
The Centre. The Capital. This was the main area. It changed quite a bit over time with things added and others removed or changed but the overall structure remained the same. Initially the bottom was filled with links for every single page on the site, before they were divided into three main sections, and email link, a message board link and a drop down list of miscellaneous sections. This was the centre and thankfully, is a Jimdo link! This means it will remain available indefinitely and all links may be accessed - except for those on the drop down list and the message board (which will be deleted sometime in October).

Updates
Yes, I understand that it may be strange that the main page does not hold the number 1 spot. However, if the main page is the capital city, then the updates page is the Presidential/Prime Minister's Palace. This was the most updated section of the site - even if there was nothing to update. It basically served as my blog, before I had a blog. In fact, the updates stopped coming, pretty much around the same time I started Darryl's Random Rants. The page was built on the site's first day (August 18th 2003), and the last update was on July 21st 2006, where I officially declared the site under 'indefinate' hiatus and announced that I had started a blog. Two years later, I would announce the site's closure on the main page, and proceed to write my Tribute to the FDD World blogpost. The updates section contained everything from my real thoughts to my invented fantasies, from my site updates to seasonal celebrations. It was all there. Unfortunately, it is an original link and will be completely destroyed in October. But it doesn't matter - because only by letting go of the past are we able to move forward.
Well, that's about it! However, I must make a special mention. The Index Page! While not officially part of the site, it was a portal to the Main Page. Later, when the site closed, I turned it into a portal for my personal projects (including this blog). It's a Jimdo page so it won't be deleted. The page also holds some pictures from the site's early years.
Salutations, Digimon Entrance! You were my first, and you will be remembered even after my last.

The great people who worked hard to archive all Geocities sites before it shut down have finished Digimon Entrance. So anyone who wants to see it in its entirety, type the link below into your browser. Please note, stuff like the Message Board and Guestbook are no longer accessible and the site itself will not be updated.
