US Presidential Debate #2 - Town Hall
The second Presidential debate has come and gone. The reason this post is a day late is, frankly, that I live a horrible life. No pressure. ANYWAY, onto the debate!
On a preliminary note...does anyone feel that this year's debates are...bad. I've even heard some people say that last night's debate was the worst ever. While I wouldn't go that far - I must say the debates are lacking one important detail. Debate.
I blame the moderators. Each university is so focused on offering "the best debate" that they completely ignore the word 'debate' and fill up the time with lots of individual questions. Yesterday's was no exception.
All things considered, however, I do feel that the second debate ended in a draw. At least, as far as I'm concerned. Neither candidate was particularly strong but at the same time neither was evidently weak.
In both cases, the questions were answered and many of them answered well but I did feel that there was a lack of substance in some of the answers to a certain degree. Perhaps more worrying for John McCain who is supposed to be better at Town Hall formats but also cause for worry for Barack Obama whose skills at a Town Hall debate are questionable and he does significantly better when he's got his podium and he's making speeches.
When it all boils down to it, my support has not been wavered after the debate and I still lean towards Obama. The final debate on October 15th could either confirm my support or make me watch the Vice-Presidential debate to decide from there.
Au revoir...Darryl, from Malta - Online.
